Appliance Rebates

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Congress approved $300 million in funding for federal rebates of high efficiency home appliances.  This will be distributed and administered by each state.  The states have until October 15th to submit their plan for the program, with funding expected in November. 

If you are considering, or need to, purchase a new appliance for your home, you may want to wait until November to take advantage of any extra rebates or credits you may be eligible for.  This Wall Street Journal article provides the basic information.  Info on federal tax credits for energy efficiency was updated September 14, 2009 and can be found here.
