FICO Scores Are On Sale

By Dana on January 15, 2009

Until January 31, 2009 you can save 20% when you check your credit scores because FICO scores are on sale!   That means your three credit reports AND your actual FICO scores will cost less than $40.   And checking your own reports and scores will not count against your credit rating.

WHY CHECK YOUR SCORES?
With the growing importance of credit scores for most financial decisions in our lives, you should check your own scores before you start the loan or account application process.  You can do a preliminary inquiry with the lender to find out what the minimum FICO scores are that they require for approval.  If yours do not meet the minimum, you can save time and Inquiry points by waiting to apply until your credit reports are corrected and you have taken steps to build your credit.

WHY FICO SCORES?
Not all credit scores are created equal.  Most lenders in the U.S. use the FICO formula so purchasing any other scores does not usually give an apples-to-apples comparison with what your lender will see.  Although the consumer credit scores developed by the credit bureaus to compete with FICO scores are heavily advertised, they are NOT the same.

HOW TO GET THE SALE PRICE
Under Links on the upper, right-hand side of this screen, click on the third link, “FICO Scores/Reports”.  Click on the “FICO Credit Complete” on the top, right side of the screen for all three reports and scores.  During checkout, you’ll be asked for a discount code.  Enter FICO2009 to save 20% off your purchase.  You can create a username and password to go back for 30 days to review and print your reports.
