Scams Aimed At Small Businesses
Last week, we talked about the importance of reading ALL of your statements, personal and business. Toward the end of that article, we mentioned the current scam in Arizona regarding a letter being sent to LLC companies.
Well, we got that very letter in our mail just two days after writing about it. The amazing part was that even though we were aware of the solicitation campaign by a company calling itself “Arizona Corporate Headquarters”, and even thought the envelope states that “this is not a government document”, our first reaction was to rip it open and see what we had to do to avoid any kind of trouble with our corporate status.
It does look official, it does have a due date right under the “ANNUAL FEE” of $125.00, and it does state that this company is not affiliated with the office of the Arizona Secretary of State.
After a few moments, we realized that it was a solicitation and, as requested by the Arizona Corporation Commission, we will file a complaint with the AZ Attorney General’s Office.
So, once again, we strongly recommend that you take the time to check ALL of your financial statements for accuracy before paying them. We just saved $125 by following that advice.
